travel asia vietnam da nang around the city business

Da Nang businesses range from large scale government run companies, to foreign investment projects, to home-front shops, to streetside stands.
As we saw in Ho Chi Minh City and NHa Trang, most businesses seemed to be run from shops attached to the front of tall narrow houses.
The shear number and variety of shops crammed with product is amazing.
We were told that taxes were based on the building footprint size... thus the tall narrow construction for these type of structures.
What amazed me is that it appears that it is thousands of independent, "capitalistic," businesses that make this "Communist" economy work.
This 2017 Real Money website seems to address this dicotomy.
We we visited Vietnam, the US dollar was worth about 23,144 Vietnamese Dong... not an easy conversion.

We saw a large number of these huge "empty" restaurants while we travelled during the day time.
Apparently, the locals, mostly men, frequent these establishments as and after sun down.
